Junior Ranger Program

Like many national parks, Sleeping Bear Dunes likes to encourage young visitors by setting challenges for them through its Junior Ranger program. My kids loved earning their Junior Ranger patches at every park we visited and it’s a great way to get them interested in their surroundings.
Just pick up a free workbook at the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore Visitor Center, the Dune Climb bookstore or the Glen Haven General Store. The workbooks are full of fun activities designed to teach young visitors about the park and about being responsible stewards of the natural world. When they’re done, take the completed booklets back to the Visitor Center to meet with a ranger. If the kids have done good work, they’ll receive an official Junior Ranger Badge or Patch of their own, as well as a ranger-signed certificate.
